The team behind HuddleHop

HuddleHop is a small, Iceland-based team on a simple mission: make getting around cheaper, greener and more sociable. We are building it in the open, for the way people really travel here.

From idea to road

How it started

HuddleHop began at a hackathon at the University of Iceland, where three software engineers met and shared the same frustration. Getting around Iceland too often means one person per car, with empty seats and higher costs. Around 40,000 people already coordinate lifts through Facebook groups, so the need was clear.

The idea became a Top 10 finalist team at Gulleggið 2025, Iceland’s largest startup competition, and grew further through KLAK’s Hringiða accelerator. Today the rider web app is live in English and Icelandic, with native apps on the way.
