Welcome to HuddleHop. These terms set out the rules for using our app and services. By creating an account or using HuddleHop, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
HuddleHop is an independent project operated from Iceland. For any question about these terms, contact support@huddlehop.org.
What HuddleHop is
HuddleHop offers two distinct services, kept clearly separate:
- On-demand rides that match you with a nearby verified driver.
- Cost-shared carpools that let you join a planned trip going your way and split the fuel cost.
A carpool is a cost-sharing arrangement between travellers, not a commercial taxi service. We operate in line with Icelandic transport rules, including the Taxi Act No. 120/2022.
Our role
HuddleHop is a technology platform that connects riders with independent drivers and with travellers sharing a journey. We do not provide transport ourselves, we do not own or operate vehicles, and we are not a taxi company. For any given trip, the agreement to travel is made directly between the rider and the driver. Drivers and carpool hosts are independent individuals, not employees, agents, or representatives of HuddleHop.
Your account
You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement under Icelandic law to use HuddleHop. Keep your login details secure and give us accurate information. You are responsible for activity on your account. Drivers must complete identity and vehicle verification before going online.
Using the service
You agree to use HuddleHop lawfully and respectfully. You will not misuse the app, harass other people, provide false information, or use the service for anything illegal. Drivers are responsible for holding the licences, insurance, and permits their activity requires.
Fares, payments and cost-sharing
For on-demand rides, the fare (including any busy-time multiplier) is shown before you confirm. While in-app payments roll out, some trips are settled directly. For carpools, the amount reflects a fair share of fuel and running costs and is not a commercial fare. You are responsible for any charges on your account.
Cancellations
You can cancel a request in the app. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may affect your access to the service. Any cancellation fees will be made clear in the app before they apply.
Ratings, conduct and safety
Riders and drivers can rate each other after a trip to keep the community trusted. We may review accounts, and we may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, put others at risk, or abuse the service.
Liability
You use HuddleHop, and any ride or carpool arranged through it, at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HuddleHop is not responsible or liable for the acts, omissions, conduct, or safety of any rider or driver, for the condition or roadworthiness of any vehicle, or for any injury, loss, or damage arising from a trip arranged through the app. HuddleHop does not provide insurance for trips; drivers are responsible for holding the insurance, licences, and permits their activity requires.
The app itself is offered as is, without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or error free, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Icelandic law, including your rights under consumer law.
Disputes between users
Trips and carpools are arranged directly between riders and drivers. Any dispute about a trip, a payment, or someone's conduct is, in the first instance, between those people. We may step in to help where we can, and we may act on reports to keep the community safe, but we are not responsible for resolving disputes between users.
Your responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover HuddleHop against any claim, loss, or cost that arises from your trips, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service grows. We will post the current version here with its date, and significant changes will be communicated in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts.
