Introducing HuddleHop: greener journeys across Iceland

A winding road across a green Icelandic landscape

HuddleHop started with a simple question. Why does getting around Iceland so often mean one person, one car, and a lot of empty seats? We thought there was a better way. One that costs riders less, treats the planet more kindly, and fits how Icelanders actually travel.

Two ways to travel, kept clearly separate

HuddleHop gives you two distinct options, and we are careful never to blur them.

On-demand rides match you with a nearby verified driver right now. You see a clear price before you confirm, so there are no surprises when you reach the kerb.

Cost-shared carpools let you join a planned trip going your way and split the fuel cost. A carpool is not a paid taxi service. It is neighbours sharing a journey they were already making.

Keeping these separate matters. It keeps fares honest, it keeps carpooling genuinely about sharing costs, and it keeps us in line with Icelandic transport rules.

Verified drivers, from day one

Every driver completes identity and vehicle checks before they can go online, and you can always see the driver and vehicle details for your ride. Trust is the whole point of a community transport app, so we are building it in from the start rather than bolting it on later.

Built for Iceland, in two languages

The rider web app is live today at app.huddlehop.org, in full English and Icelandic, with native iOS and Android apps on the way. We are starting with direct payment and community-friendly travel while in-app payments roll out carefully.

This is just the start. Follow along on Instagram, and hop on.
