HuddleHop
HuddleHop is a ride-sharing and carpooling app operated from Iceland. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Icelandic Data Protection Act No. 90/2018.

Data we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and (for drivers) vehicle, licence, and identity information.
- Location data: your pickup, destination, and live position while a trip or carpool is active, so we can match you and show the journey.
- Trip data: routes, fares, timestamps, ratings, and messages between riders and drivers.
- Device data: a push notification token and basic diagnostics so the app works reliably.
Why we use it
We use your data to match riders with drivers, run trips and carpools, process payments, keep the service safe, meet legal obligations under the Icelandic Taxi Act, and improve the app. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests, and compliance with the law.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Trip location data is automatically deleted 60 days after the trip, as required by the Icelandic Taxi Act. Records we must retain for accounting or legal reasons are kept for the period the law requires.
Sharing
We share data only as needed to run the service: with the driver or rider you are matched with, with payment and infrastructure providers acting on our behalf, and with authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. You can delete your account in the app at any time. To exercise any right, contact privacy@huddlehop.org. You also have the right to complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd).
